Belle O'Neill, a 29th year teacher, has been teaching 2nd and 3rd year Spanish at McQueen High School for the past 9 years. She teaches primarily sophomores and juniors, ranging in age from 15-17. This year she is the lead teacher facilitator for the Accreditation process at McQueen High School. Accreditation is a required process every U.S. public high school goes through every 5 years to demonstrate school wide growth and goals. Belle received her Bachelor's degree in music education in 1981 from Michigan State University, her Master's degree in music performance in 1983 from The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and her minor in Spanish in 1996 from The University of Nevada, Reno and Arizona State University. Last year Belle celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary with her husband Mike and has a son and daughter in college. Her hobbies include cello and orchestral playing, cooking, travelling, reading, and cross country skiing. She has travelled to Mexico, Ireland, Spain, Canada, and now Colombia. Her primary objective for participating in TGC is to challenge her students and fire them up to explore and investigate the world beyond their comfort zone and their values.
Belle y Lorenzo, el lancero. Lorenzo will travel with Belle to Colombia. He was especially picked because McQueen High School's mascot is the Lancer.
